Machaba Camp

Machaba Camp is located on the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most beautiful reserves in Southern Africa.

The Moremi Game Reserve is named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe.

It covers much of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta and combines permanent water with drier areas, which create some startling and unexpected contrasts.

Abundant Elephant abound, often passing the camp looking for Acacia pods on their way to the Kwai River.

The Kwai is the local water supply for all big game in the area, and forms the boundary between Machaba and the Moremi Reserve.

The Moremi Reserve is home to 500 bird species, and a vast variety of other wildlife, including buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyaena, jackal, impala, and red lechwe.

To the north, through the Mababe Gate, is the Savuti Marsh area of Chobe National Park.

Here, in the dry season, you can see warthog, kudu, impala, zebra, wildebeest and elephant.

In the rainy season, 450 species of birds are well represented, as well as groups of lion, hyena, zebra and cheetah.
